Rhythm and Green    -     Duo

Jim Green (vocals) Geoff (guitar, vocals, keyboards and programming)

A trio was being formed for a few gigs and I became part of it. After many initial changes we got on the road with a guitarist Mike, singer Jim Green and me. I started messing around on the keyboards and found I could make up backing tracks for us. I realised I could play the guitar parts on the keyboard or program them in so we could easily become be a duo. Mike realised this and left, so we started performing as a duo.

At This time, clubs and pubs were looking for smaller numbers in bands to cut down costs, so although we were only two, because of the backing tracks I made, we sounded like a full band. We played all over the South West of England and had a full diary, but it was getting a bit boring for me after three years as I was now getting more into the technical side of a song rather than as a musician.

Jim was unable to fulfil one of our bookings over the Christmas period so rather than let my friends down for the private party, decided to get someone else in. I met an old friend of mine, Tim Jeffery, at a club a few days later and he said he would do it.

Due to lack of time, we did the booking without any rehearsals and had a great reaction. I hadn’t played with Tim before but we really hit it off, a bit like with Ian from Tropicana. The booking was a great success and we had many requests for more bookings.

I continued completing bookings with Jim but it was now not my scene. Tim and I did more bookings in mid week and I was beginning to enjoy music again, so in the end I decided to stop the Rhythm and Green machine and move on to a permanent more live music situation with Tim.
